ZoomInfo is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to lead our product analytics function and own measurement systems across the entire product portfolio. You'll combine hands-on analytical depth with strategic scope — designing measurement frameworks, running deep-dive investigations, and shaping product decisions through rigorous data work. This role is for an exceptional analyst first: someone who writes clean SQL, thinks statistically, debugs data problems obsessively, and translates complex findings into clear business narratives that influence Product, Engineering, and executive stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- You will design and own measurement frameworks that connect customer behavior to business outcomes, including activation, adoption, monetization, retention, expansion, and churn
- You will establish source-of-truth definitions for key metrics and KPIs across product lines, and build scalable reporting infrastructure that minimizes manual overhead
- You will conduct rigorous root-cause analyses on significant shifts in product performance, investigating friction points and conversion barriers across the customer journey
- You will build customer segmentation frameworks that reveal behavioral differences and identify the product experiences most strongly associated with customer success
- You will quantify opportunity size, support experimentation efforts with statistically rigorous test design, and advise Product and GTM leadership on adoption trends and growth opportunities
- You will redesign analytics workflows to leverage AI tools for faster investigation, and build systems that continuously monitor product performance and surface anomalies proactively
- You will develop scalable self-service analytics capabilities while maintaining data governance and trust across teams and business units
- You will partner with Product, Engineering, GTM, and executive teams as a trusted data advisor, elevating analytical standards and leading initiatives from opportunity identification through impact measurement
What You Bring
Must-Have:
- 8+ years of experience in Product Analytics, Growth Analytics, Data Science, or related analytical fields
- Expert-level SQL and Python skills — you write clean, efficient code and debug data issues independently
- Strong statistical foundation — you understand experimental design, significance testing, and know when correlations mislead
- Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale analytical initiatives with measurable business impact
- Deep experience conducting investigations into customer behavior, product performance, and business outcomes, with the ability to translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
Preferred:
- Experience in Product-Led Growth or self-serve SaaS (e.g., Figma, Notion, Slack, Linear, Calendly) — you understand activation loops and freemium economics
- SaaS customer lifecycle analytics experience — you can map the full journey from trial to expansion
- Proficiency across the modern analytics stack, including data warehousing, BI tools, SQL, and Python
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve analytical workflows and reduce manual effort
- Background in Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science
