POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Director, Data Center Sales will lead the commercial team responsible for creating and converting the data center opportunity pipeline and securing the land and power required to move those opportunities into executable projects. This leader will establish the sales operating rhythm, develop strategic accounts, and hold the team accountable for measurable bookings, revenue, pipeline, margin, and project-conversion outcomes.
The team will originate and close complex opportunities with hyperscalers, GPU cloud and AI infrastructure providers, colocation operators, enterprises, developers, and other digital infrastructure customers. The offering may span powered land, utility and behind-the-meter power, energy infrastructure, powered shell/core, modular data center solutions, capacity agreements, and related operating or energy services.
This is a senior, quota-accountable commercial leadership role. The successful candidate will bring established data center relationships, firsthand credibility closing multi-megawatt and high-value transactions, and the ability to align customer demand with site control, power availability, technical feasibility, commercial structure, capital requirements, and execution readiness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the commercialization and growth of TransGrid Energy's Data Center Infrastructure business, building a qualified pipeline of opportunities with hyperscalers, AI infrastructure providers, GPU cloud companies, colocation operators, developers, and enterprise customers.
- Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for data center power and infrastructure solutions, establishing market priorities, target accounts, partnership strategies, and revenue growth plans.
- Build, lead, coach, and scale a high-performing commercial organization accountable for bookings, revenue, pipeline growth, margin performance, and forecast accuracy.
- Create and convert strategic opportunities involving powered land, utility service, behind-the-meter generation, battery storage, energy infrastructure, powered shell environments, modular data center solutions, and long-term capacity agreements.
- Develop executive relationships across the data center ecosystem, including hyperscalers, AI and cloud providers, colocation operators, developers, utilities, brokers, infrastructure partners, and other key market participants.
- Lead complex commercial pursuits from initial customer engagement through qualification, solution development, commercial negotiations, contracting, and transition to execution.
- Partner closely with development, land acquisition, engineering, power, finance, legal, and construction teams to align customer demand with available power, site readiness, technical feasibility, project economics, and delivery schedules.
- Drive the coordination required to secure land, utility capacity, interconnection pathways, and infrastructure solutions that enable customer opportunities to advance into executable projects.
- Structure and negotiate high-value commercial agreements, including LOIs, capacity commitments, development agreements, leases, infrastructure services agreements, and other long-term commercial arrangements.
- Evaluate opportunities through the lens of customer demand, infrastructure availability, power constraints, development risk, capital requirements, and long-term profitability.
- Serve as one of the Company's primary market-facing leaders, helping position TransGrid Energy as a strategic infrastructure and power partner for the next generation of AI, cloud, and digital infrastructure development.
- Maintain deep market intelligence regarding data center demand, AI infrastructure growth, utility constraints, available capacity, competitive activity, commercial structures, and emerging market opportunities.
- Personally lead the Company's most strategic customer relationships, negotiations, and business development initiatives while helping build a scalable and repeatable commercial engine.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 10+ years of experience in data centers, digital infrastructure, power or energy infrastructure, critical facilities, commercial real estate, colocation, or a closely related industry.
- 5+ years leading quota-accountable sales, business development, strategic account, or commercial teams, with measurable success against bookings or revenue targets.
- Demonstrated success personally originating, shaping, negotiating, and closing complex, high-value infrastructure transactions while also leading others to deliver results.
- Experience building and converting a qualified pipeline and coordinating the land, site-control, power, utility, or capacity work required to make projects executable.
- Established senior relationships within the hyperscale, GPU cloud/AI, colocation, developer, or broader data center ecosystem.
- Experience negotiating MSAs and one or more relevant long-term commercial structures, such as capacity or colocation agreements, leases, development agreements, EPC/construction contracts, energy agreements, or infrastructure services.
- Strong understanding of data center commercial models, including power availability, site development, utility interconnection, capacity planning, project schedule, resiliency, and data center leasing.
- Demonstrated CRM discipline, pipeline inspection, forecast accuracy, opportunity qualification, and executive account planning.
- Ability to engage C-suite executives and lead cross-functional teams across engineering, development, construction, operations, finance, legal, procurement, and real estate without relying solely on direct authority.
- Strong executive communication, negotiation, commercial judgment, and presentation skills.
- Travel percentage expected to be 30-60%, depending on business needs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience selling or originating powered land, powered shell/core, wholesale colocation, data center capacity, data center development, or integrated power and energy infrastructure.
- Experience with data center projects involving approximately 5 MW to 100+ MW of capacity and high-value, multi-year commercial commitments.
- Understanding of high-density AI infrastructure and associated power, resiliency, and cooling requirements.
- Familiarity with utility interconnection, substations, BESS, distributed generation, microgrids, and renewable energy.
- Experience building a commercial organization, coaching senior sellers, and establishing repeatable sales processes, governance, and performance expectations.
- MBA or advanced technical/business degree preferred.
