The Job
As a Technical Operations Manager, you'll play a vital role in ensuring optimal performance for a distributed portfolio of solar PV and energy storage assets. You'll be the primary technical point of contact for assigned clients, working closely with Portfolio Managers and the broader Commercial Operations Team.
We’re looking for commercial technicians and installers who also love working with clients and partners. From asset onboarding to performance management and reporting, you'll directly contribute to delivering exceptional client experiences while supporting operational excellence and innovation in clean energy.

Technical Expertise and Client Engagement (60%)

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned clients in a portfolio of about 250-350 MW of distributed solar assets
  • Review service visit reports before they are presented to clients and participate in weekly client check-in calls to provide on-the-spot technical expertise
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, field service partners, internal team members, and other asset stakeholders

Operational Support and Field Coordination (20%)

  • Investigate issues using site monitoring platforms, and initiate activities to improve asset performance.
  • Create, manage, and oversee tickets for planned and unplanned service activities.
  • Coordinate and manage service activities with field service partners.
  • Support onsite service technicians during service work and check-out calls.
  • Collaborate with external engineering firms for retrofits, repowering, and redesigns.

Battery Storage and Continuous Improvement (20%)

  • Own the technical aspect of our Commercial BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) program, including sales support, pricing proposals, scope development, contract review, and operational implementation
  • Contribute to the development and updates of Omnidian’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and QA/QC program
  • Participate in initiatives supporting sales and product development.

  • You communicate clearly and professionally in both written and verbal forms.
  • 4+ years in solar operations, field engineering, asset management, or technical support, with at least 2 years handling commercial or large-scale assets (>500 kW)
  • Direct technical experience managing 1000–1500 VDC PV architecture, 3-phase AC connections, and root-cause troubleshooting from array strings to central inverters
  • Solid understanding of National Electrical Code standards for PV and energy storage (Articles 690, 691, 705, 706) as applied to field inspections and testing
  • Familiarity with medium-voltage distribution systems, collection circuits, utility interconnection standards, and protective relays
  • Technical proficiency with commercial energy storage systems, including inverter behavior, BMS alarm diagnosis, and troubleshooting hardware faults
  • Proficiency reviewing and analyzing electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, site designs, and technical submittals
  • Experience utilizing telemetry and DAS monitoring tools to diagnose active operational issues versus telemetry offline conditions
  • Experience using enterprise ticketing applications (Salesforce, Zendesk) alongside advanced Google Workspace and Excel capabilities

  • Quality assurance, thermography, or commissioning experience, including developing punchlists and evaluating system terminations
  • Advanced expertise in commercial battery storage systems, including hands-on field service, commissioning, or managing warranty claims
  • Familiarity with evaluating service agreements, scopes of work, and manufacturer warranties
  • NFPA 70E electrical safety certification
  • NABCEP accreditation
  • Hands-on experience navigating Salesforce
