Ardent is seeking a Geospatial Application Developer  to join our team.

This is a hybrid  position based in Washington, DC.

Position Description:

Ardent is seeking a Geospatial Application Developer to support application development efforts for enterprise geospatial solutions within a federal environment. This role will support the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of geospatial applications, user interfaces, workflows, APIs, and related services.

The Geospatial Application Developer will collaborate with application developers, GIS professionals, infrastructure teams, security teams, and other program stakeholders to ensure applications meet federal IT requirements and support mission needs.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise geospatial applications, user interfaces, workflows, and APIs.
  • Support new development and maintenance of existing geospatial solutions.
  • Develop web-based GIS applications, dashboards, and integration workflows.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, and related geospatial services.
  • Develop applications supporting geospatial data visualization, analysis, and management activities.
  • Integrate geospatial applications with enterprise systems, data platforms, and business applications.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, data, and program teams to ensure applications meet DHS IT requirements.
  • Participate in application testing, troubleshooting, performance tuning, deployment, and maintenance activities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, application specifications, and user guides.
  • Support cybersecurity, role-based access, and privacy requirements within application development activities.
  • Support development, testing, production, and operations and maintenance environments.
  • Assist with user support, training, and issue resolution activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience developing applications including user interfaces, workflows, and APIs.
  • Proficiency with programming languages such as Python, C++, JavaScript, C#, .NET, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting new development and/or maintenance of existing geospatial solutions.
  • Experience working with ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Server, or related Esri technologies.
  • Experience developing web applications, dashboards, workflows, or APIs.
  • Experience supporting geospatial data management and GIS workflows.
  • Experience troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of web services, APIs, and application integration principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and support multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience developing applications using ArcGIS APIs and SDKs.
  • Experience supporting ArcGIS GeoEvent Server.
  • Experience with cloud-native application development.
  • Experience supporting Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Experience supporting GIS dashboards, analytics, and visualization tools.
  • Experience supporting DHS or other federal government geospatial programs.
  • Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, or automated deployment processes.
  • Esri technical certifications.
