Our Retail Operations & Transformation team are laser-focused on critical metrics—driving SAP support, efficiency of in-store operations, checkout performance and play a key role with new store openings & ownership changes across all three banners.
 
Te Tūranga – About the role   
This is a key strategic role accountable for shaping, prioritising, and governing the retail change portfolio. As part of our Retail Operations & Tranformation Leadership Team, you will ensure initiatives are aligned to strategy, sequenced effectively, and supported by clear investment and decision-making frameworks.
You’ll own the single, integrated view of all retail change, bringing together demand from across the business and translating it into a clear portfolio roadmap. Your work will enable leaders to make informed decisions and trade-offs about what gets delivered, when, and why.
Importantly, this role focuses on governance and portfolio design—not execution—ensuring initiatives are well-defined, prioritised, and ready for successful rollout into stores.
Key responsibilities include:
Owning the end-to-end retail portfolio, providing a clear, integrated view of all initiatives impacting Retail
Shaping, prioritising and sequencing initiatives based on strategic alignment, value, risk, and capacity
Establishing and maintaining strong portfolio governance, decision forums, and stage-gate processes
Providing oversight of dependencies, risks, issues, and timelines across complex, interrelated initiatives
Managing portfolio financials including planning, forecasting, and value realisation
Ensuring initiatives entering the portfolio have strong business cases, clear outcomes, and defined sponsorship
Supporting executive decision-making through high-quality reporting, insights, and recommendations
Championing consistent portfolio standards, tools, and continuous improvement across the organisation

You’re a strategic thinker with strong portfolio or programme leadership experience, able to bring clarity and structure to complex environments.
To be successful, you’ll bring:
Extensive experience in portfolio, programme, or project delivery within complex environments
Strong knowledge of delivery methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid, Lean, SAFe) and how to apply them pragmatically
Experience establishing governance frameworks, standards, and stage-gate processes
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to link business cases, investment, and value realisation
Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across senior leaders and cross-functional teams
Experience with delivery tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, ADO) and portfolio reporting
Ability to simplify complexity, provide clear insights, and enable confident decision-making
