Role

We are looking for a Staff Software Development Engineer - DevOps to join our team. This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, India 3 days a week, reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager in the Identity team department. As a Staff DevOps Engineer, you will focus on managing development and infrastructure demands, steering systems architecture, maintaining support and security, deploying systems, and supporting peer developers.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

  • Provision Zscaler services on public cloud (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, helm and terraform
  • Ensure security compliance of service deployment
  • Work with the team to control costs and optimize cloud utilization
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines
  • Evangelize and instruct Software Engineers in DevOps philosophy

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Foundational understanding of AI/ML technologies and experience leveraging, securing, or positioning AI-driven solutions to optimize outcomes within your functional domain
  • Experience hosting 24x7 services in public cloud providers AWS/GCP(AWS is must) with automation and orchestration using tools such as Terraform, Cloudformation, or Ansible
  • Experience managing and deploying Kubernetes resources using Helm charts. Proficiency with gitlab (or similar tooling), or similar CI/CD tools
  • Working knowledge of Databases & SQL (Postgres preferred) and experience with cloud-based architecture building blocks like message queuing, in-memory caches, and load balancing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, and U.S. Citizenship (required due to the secure nature of the work)

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience implementing AIOps, AI-driven predictive scaling, or automated anomaly detection to optimize cloud infrastructure performance and reliability
  • Familiarity with logging and monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, Alert manager
  • Advanced experience running highly available cloud services, with a proven track record of optimizing Zscaler service deployments and cloud cost utilization
