Role Summary and Impact

The Influencer Account Director leads WPP Media’s influencer marketing vertical across a priority client portfolio. This role is responsible for shaping the influencer operating model, leading the team through Managers and Executives, driving senior client relationships, ensuring commercial health and elevating the strategic quality of creator-led work. The Account Director brings together strategy, operations, talent relationships, media integration, performance insight and team leadership to ensure influencer marketing becomes a scalable, measurable and trusted capability for the agency and its clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Managers and Executives, setting priorities, reviewing output, solving escalations and ensuring the team is structured to meet client demands.
  • Act as senior influencer advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance on creator ecosystems, partnership models, content credibility, market relevance and performance opportunities.
  • Shape annual, quarterly and campaign-level influencer strategies, ensuring alignment with business priorities, brand positioning, audience insight and wider media or content plans.
  • Oversee campaign quality across the portfolio, from creator strategy and recommendations to negotiation, content, reporting and post-campaign action plans.
  • Develop and maintain senior relationships with creators, talent agencies, platforms, production partners and key ecosystem players where strategically relevant.
  • Set standards for influencer measurement, reporting frameworks, performance diagnostics and insight-led optimization across the team.
  • Champion best practice around disclosure, brand safety, usage rights, exclusivity, contracting, cultural sensitivity and creator relationship management.
  • Partner with senior leaders across media, strategy, creative, social, commerce, data and client service to integrate influencer thinking into broader agency solutions.
  • Support new business and pitch work by shaping influencer strategy, operating models, staffing plans, cost approaches and senior-level recommendations.
  • Coach, develop and retain influencer talent within the team, creating clear growth paths and building a high-performing culture.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience across influencer marketing, creator partnerships, social, PR, talent, media or integrated communications.
  • Proven experience leading teams, senior client relationships and complex multi-market influencer scopes.
  • Strong track record in commercial leadership, operating model design, strategic planning and campaign governance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, media, business or a related field is preferred.
