WWL, the TEGNA-owned CBS affiliate in New Orleans, is seeking an innovative and results-driven Director of Sales to lead a high-performing revenue team across linear, streaming, and digital platforms. This leader will drive strategy, grow market share, develop top talent, and help local businesses connect with audiences through modern marketing solutions.
The Director of Sales creates, leads, and executes the station’s sales strategy to achieve or exceed annual revenue goals while growing market share across broadcast, digital, streaming, and emerging platforms. This leader is responsible for building and developing a high-performing sales organization, empowering managers and sellers, and creating alignment around a shared vision for success.
The Director of Sales partners closely with station leadership and corporate teams to identify opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and position the station as a trusted marketing partner in the community. The ideal candidate is a strategic and adaptable leader who can navigate change, lead with transparency, and keep teams aligned and motivated in a fast-evolving media landscape.
This position reports to the President & General Manager.
Responsibilities


• Build and execute a strategic sales plan designed to achieve or exceed revenue goals across linear, digital, streaming, and emerging platforms

• Recruit, coach, develop, and retain a high-performing sales leadership team and sales staff

• Foster a culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous development

• Lead pricing, inventory management, forecasting, and revenue pacing strategies to maximize revenue performance

• Partner closely with station leadership, marketing, news, and corporate teams to identify opportunities and deliver integrated client solutions

• Collaborate with content and marketing leaders on ratings analysis, projections, and audience strategies to optimize inventory value

• Develop strong relationships with local business leaders, agencies, and community partners to drive new business growth and long-term client partnerships

• Leverage TEGNA’s full suite of marketing capabilities and resources to grow market share and create customized advertising solutions for clients

• Work closely with TEGNA Sales to maximize opportunities with national, political, and strategic accounts

• Lead teams effectively through organizational change, evolving business priorities, and industry transformation with clear communication and strong leadership

• Create alignment and maintain team engagement in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment

• Lead teams effectively through new technologies, changing market conditions, and emerging product opportunities while encouraging innovation and adaptability

• Maintain accurate forecasting, reporting, and communication with station and corporate leadership teams

• Represent the station at industry, community, and client events

• Travel regularly and attend sales-related functions outside of standard business hours as needed

Requirements


• 10 years of media or advertising sales experience with at least 5 years in a broadcast or multimedia sales leadership role

• Proven track record of achieving or exceeding revenue goals and leading high-performing sales teams

• Strong understanding of multiplatform advertising solutions, including broadcast, digital, OTT, CTV, and streaming products

• Knowledge of political advertising sales cycles and revenue strategy

• Demonstrated ability to lead strategically, solve problems, and drive results in a fast-changing environment

• Proven ability to lead successfully through change, ambiguity, and evolving business conditions

• Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, and the ability to maintain momentum in a dynamic environment

• Experience building inclusive, collaborative, and performance-driven team cultures

• Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence, motivate, and align teams around a shared vision

• Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt quickly, and lead effectively under pressure

• Experience with CRM and sales systems including Salesforce and WideOrbit preferred

• Working knowledge of Comscore, Matrix, ShareBuilder, and related sales and analytics platforms preferred
