About Legis1
Legis1 is a congressional intelligence platform that goes beyond tracking legislation, revealing who is driving it. Our platform combines 45+ years of congressional and lobbying data, connecting bills, lawmakers, staff, lobbyists, and funders into a single networked intelligence system. Spun out of the nonpartisan Sunwater Institute in 2025, Legis1 is built for professionals who need to understand how policy and influence actually move through Washington.
POSITION
Legis1 is seeking a Civic Product Analyst to support the launch and growth of AllCiv, our civic engagement, political data, and citizen-facing media platform launching Q3 2026. This is an early-career role suited for someone recently out of college with 1–2 years of work experience or internships, looking to build hands-on skills at the intersection of civic technology, political data, and AI-assisted product development.
This is not a typical analyst role. It sits squarely at the intersection of political knowledge, technology, and hands-on building.
The ideal candidate is curious, fast-moving, and comfortable using modern AI tools to prototype and build, We are looking for someone who can follow direction, execute quickly, bring a good eye for design, and help turn ideas and data into working pages and features alongside our engineering and design teams. We want someone who has a genuine passion for politics, policy, and civic life — this is a mission-driven role; we are looking for someone who follows legislation, understands political dynamics, and cares deeply about civic participation and government accountability
RESPONSIBILITIES
Use AI tools (Claude Code, Codex, etc) to help design and build features, pages, and prototypes
Help interpret data and translate it into roadmap directions, build pages, and drive them through to approval
Coordinate with the data team to ensure accuracy and relevance of civic and legislative data on the platform
Analyze data to understand how it reflects real-world legislative and civic activity
Apply a strong eye for design to ensure pages and features are clean, intuitive, and user-friendly
Follow direction from senior leadership and execute quickly on assigned tasks
Support execution-heavy work across the product build process, prioritizing speed and output
Assist in monitoring product usage and user feedback post-launch to inform iteration
Stay current on trends in civic technology, open government data, and political engagement
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., political science, public policy)
1–2 years of experience through full-time work or internships relevant to civics or politics. Experience working on political campaigns, congressional offices, legislative affairs, civic advocacy, or public policy is a plus.
Comfortable using LLMs like Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini to design and build prototypes. Experience 'vibe coding' with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or comparable AI coding frameworks is ideal.
Good eye for design; able to recognize clean, intuitive, user-friendly interfaces. An understanding of UI/UX principles is helpful but not required
Experience developing personal apps or tools is a plus
Comfortable analyzing data and understanding how it reflects real-world trends in the field
Strong interest and demonstrated knowledge about politics, legislation, policy, civic engagement, and/or government affairs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to translate complex data and policy concepts for broad audiences
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment

Benefits: Paid comprehensive health insurance (including dental and vision), 401(k) with company matching, and generous paid time off.
