SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

ACCOUNTANT, AI OPERATIONS

Play a key role in standing up and running SpaceX’s commercial infrastructure by owning order-to-cash collections across Grok API usage, subscriptions, and enterprise agreements. You will run the live receivables book, build scalable playbooks and workflows, partner cross-functionally to collect what is owed while preserving customer relationships, and help construct the systems the next generation of products will run on. The ideal candidate treats every interaction as a customer service moment, follows (and improves) established processes, flags issues early, and takes initiative to automate, coach, and drive results.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and maintain the playbook for outreach, disputes, dunning, service restrictions, and escalations; know when a case requires an exception
  • Review high-risk work (disputes, short payments, write-offs, account status changes, customer commitments) before it reaches a customer or affects the close
  • Own accounts through outreach, dispute resolution, payment application, and reconciliation when required
  • Protect the customer relationship while resolving the balance
  • Own DSO, aging, and collection performance; be accountable for improving those results
  • Keep the receivables ledger clean with cash applied, disputes documented, and every balance explainable
  • Partner with the billing and revenue accounting to fix root-cause issues, credits, adjustments, and uncollected balances
  • Deliver complete and accurate collections data on time for monthly and quarterly close
  • Work across Campfire, Salesforce, NetSuite, Stripe, Databricks, D365, and support queues
  • Use AI for repetitive work; review output before it reaches a customer or the books and incorporate what works into team operations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1.5+ years of experience in collections, billing, accounts receivable, or order-to-cash

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or other business discipline
  • Experience owning a receivables portfolio and its results (cash collected, aging, customer conversations)
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field
  • Experience owning a receivables portfolio and its results (cash collected, aging, customer conversations)
  • Comfort working across systems such as Salesforce, NetSuite, and billing platforms
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
  • Experience using AI for repetitive work
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Multi-entity or multi-currency receivables experience
  • SOX, audit support, credit review, or credit-risk experience
  • SQL, Databricks, D365, or other self-service data skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to work long hours or weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines, such as month-end and quarter-end close
  • This position is based in Palo Alto, CA, and requires being onsite full-time — hybrid and remote work will not be considered

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:
Level 1: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00
Level 2: $110,000.00 - $155,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
