This role will support the development, execution, and alignment of strategy and programmatic initiatives, and provide project management support for the Political and Legislative Affairs team. Reporting to the VP, Political and Legislative Affairs, this role focuses on project managing cross-divisional initiatives; facilitating projects within the Political and Legislative Affairs team; and working to support a robust federal advocacy strategy that responds to the everchanging abortion and reproductive health landscape.

  • Support through project management for the Political and Legislative Affairs team with cross-divisional advocacy efforts such as I’m For/I Fight For Planned Parenthood campaign responses for appropriations/reconciliation, etc., Congressional and elected official engagement, coordinated electoral campaign work, and other efforts as they emerge.
  • Ensure the integration and coordination between the Political and Legislative Affairs department and the External Affairs Division in responding to political and legislative developments.
  • Act as the first point of contact for Political and Legislative Affairs for cross-team projects and initiatives, collaborating with stakeholders across External Affairs to provide support and project management of legislative campaigns, including rapid response efforts.
  • Lead scheduling, agenda setting, execution, and follow up for a range of internal and external Political and Legislative Affairs meetings, including facilitating the Federal Fights Weekly Meeting and managing associated work and collaboration.
  • Project manage PP engagement in external events with partners, including Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference and Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Leadership Conference.
  • Liaise with State Fights Steering Committee to ensure integration and alignment between Fed and State Fights work
  • Project manage cross-movement workgroup between Political and Legislative Affairs, Policy and Research, and Communications departments
  • Project manage Blueprint Policy Agenda c4 work by liaising between PP Action Fund staff and partner c4 organizations in DNC and presidential campaign engagement
  • Support the Vice President and other team leaders with preparation for internal and external presentations, including coordinating across teams and creation of slide decks.
  • Manage logistics for team events and retreats.
  • Contribute to and/or lead the development of regular Political and Legislative Affairs and cross team memos.
  • Serve as primary liaison and driver for Political & Legislative Affairs on operations, overseeing contract and budget coordination, driving cross-functional collaboration, and representing the team in strategic planning and operational meetings.

  • Develop and manage internal and external communications and provide appropriate direction, information, assistance, and follow-up across departments and within the Political and Legislative Affairs team and affiliate partners as needed.
  • Keen ability to collaborate and build relationships with leaders across national office divisions and other key stakeholders, including affiliates.
  • Strong judgment and discretion: able to exercise independent judgment about what to move, when to move, who to involve when, and what to share with whom; must have top-notch discretion and be able to keep the confidence of leadership in the division.
  • Work on electoral projects for Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Planned Parenthood FedPAC as needed by the Vice President, Political & Legislative Affairs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • At least 3 years of directly related, progressively responsible political and legislative affairs experience
  • Experience working on electoral, legislative, and grassroots organizing campaigns.
  • Ability to drive creative thinking and strategic planning from a range of stakeholders and lead the development and execution of new tactics designed to achieve goals.
  • Superb project management skills - ability to organize complex areas of work into clear processes that lead to great results
  • Proven track record of leading and managing various projects and juggling multiple time-sensitive priorities
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the capacity to apply them both to strategic planning and project management
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with the ability to build consensus and maintain confidentiality:
  • Able to work effectively with others at all position levels, from board members and the executive team to peers and more junior colleagues
  • A team player with the ability to work well under pressure, coordinate multiple and simultaneous projects, good time management, and attention to detail
