Role Purpose

You will lead LA28's enterprise insurance strategy, protecting the organization, its venues, and its people as Los Angeles prepares to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Reporting to theChief Financial Oficer, you set the direction for the multi-layered  insurance portfolio, the Owner Controlled Insurance Program, captive insurance entity, and complex indemnity and litigation strategies. You establish the standards, workflows, and financial models that govern the enterprise insurance program in partnership with LA28’s insurance brokers, underwriters and advisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the global insurance portfolio, renewal structuring, and placement across corporate, property, casualty, and specialized event lines.
  • Provide executive oversight of the Owner Controlled Insurance Program across venue overlay and temporary infrastructure, through closeout reconciliation.
  • Direct the financial and operational management of the organization's captive insurance vehicle with external managers, actuaries, and regulators.
  • Lead high-exposure claims and litigated matters, and set enterprise standards for indemnity, liability allocation, and contractual risk terms.
  • Model and report Total Cost of Risk to senior leadership,
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate supplier vendor contracts and minimum insurance requirements to ensure full corporate compliance and mitigate risk.

Required Competencies

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in corporate risk management, commercial insurance brokerage, or enterprise risk advisory,.
  • Experience with large-scale Owner Controlled Insurance Programs (OCIP) or Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIP).
  • Experience with a captive insurance strategies and operations.
  • Technical mastery of excess casualty towers, specialized sports and entertainment coverages, contractual indemnity, and Total Cost of Risk (TCOR).
  • Eexperience directing high-exposure liability, property, and casualty litigation; a Bachelor's degree is required and a Master's or Juris Doctor preferred.

Valued Experience

  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
  • Certified Risk Manager (CRM) or Associate in Risk Management (ARM).
  • Active state bar admission or an equivalent legal credential.
  • Direct experience within mega-sporting events or large venue management.
  • Skilled at interpreting actuarial reports, loss runs, and financial models.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position is $182,000 - $239,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
