The Team and Job Summary
We are seeking an Intern to join our Intellectual Property team. This is a unique opportunity for an entrepreneurial, highly driven person with a well-rounded skill set to join the Intellectual Property team, whose responsibilities extend beyond those of a traditional Intern. The ideal person for this role will need to not only have a strong grasp of Valuation and Management, but also be flexible and a strategic thinker able to take on a variety of tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
- Construct financial analyses, including building complex models
- Perform technology, industry, and company-specific research
- Draft client presentations, pitch books, reports, letters, or memoranda
- Assist with intellectual property landscape analysis and evaluation of patents/patent portfolios for salability
- Identify and engage contacts at target companies
- Interact with clients and management teams
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing undergraduate business degree in finance, accounting or bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, or hard or computer science with applicable work experience
- Relevant work experience in investment banking, private equity, M&A, corporate finance, and/or intellectual property preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong financial modeling skills, including advanced understanding of financial statements and valuation methodologies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High degree of professionalism, integrity, and flexibility
- Self starter with strong sense of ownership and urgency
- Great attitude and client presence
- Ability to go to the office 2-3 a week

Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant work experience in investment banking, private equity, M&A, corporate finance, and/or intellectual property preferred
Physical and Mental Job Qualifications
- Must be willing to work in person in our Chicago, IL office on a hybrid schedule.

A reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $30- $35 per hour. Any offered salary range is based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, training, location, scope of role, management responsibility, etc.
