What You’ll Be Part Of:
Join a team on a high-growth trajectory. At iSpot.tv, our mission is to Accelerate Growth with AI-Driven Unified Video Ad Measurement. As part of the accounting team, you will empower this mission by establishing a world-class financial foundation - driving fiduciary responsibility, technical precision, operational excellence, and investor trust.
As Sr. Technical Accounting Manager, you are the senior-most technical authority on our accounting team beneath the Controller - the person entrusted to finalize GAAP positions, own audit-ready technical frameworks, and set the standard for how the function operates. We are seeking industry-best talent who goes beyond researching accounting standards to independently shape and defend the future of our financial function. This role serves as a key platform for impact and growth into leadership. You will own technical accounting judgments end-to-end, elevate our financial reporting and investor reporting processes, lead special projects, mentor junior team members, and design scalable workflows to support iSpot's rapid expansion.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Policy & GAAP Governance: Own and finalize technical accounting positions on complex, judgmental GAAP matters. Author and sign off on technical accounting memos, and establish and maintain robust accounting policies for critical business transactions with minimal oversight.
- Cross-Functional Advisory & Leadership: Serve as the senior-most accounting subject matter expert, partnering directly with FP&A, Legal, and executive leadership to evaluate complex, one-off business scenarios and structural accounting impacts, and to make the final call on ambiguous technical questions.
- Technical Close Ownership: Own the technical close process for key areas, including revenue (ASC 606), capitalized software (ASC 350/985), leases (ASC 842), commissions (ASC 340), and equity administration (ASC 718), ensuring accuracy and audit-readiness with limited supervision.
- Financial & Investor Reporting: Direct the end-to-end preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements, including finalizing investor reporting packages and executive board materials for accuracy, clarity, and technical rigor.
- Audit Leadership: Lead the annual external audit relationship as the primary point of contact for technical matters, managing PBC deliverables end-to-end, coordinating auditor testing, and independently resolving the most complex technical accounting queries.
- People Leadership & Development: Mentor and develop accounting staff and managers on technical judgments and research methodology, reviewing their work product and building the team's overall technical accounting capability.
- Special Projects & Systems Optimization: Lead strategic accounting initiatives, including financial systems implementations and public-readiness efforts, and design scalable, audit-ready workflows to support iSpot's continued rapid growth.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Education & Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; active CPA license is required.
- Technical Accounting & Reporting Expertise: 7-10+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting, financial reporting, and audit management, including prior experience operating at a Manager level; a background in Big 4 public accounting or Accounting Advisory Services strongly preferred.
- US GAAP Expertise: Extensive, independent hands-on experience researching complex GAAP standards, drafting and finalizing audit-ready technical memos without oversight, and owning technical close areas (e.g., ASC 606 revenue, ASC 842 leases, ASC 340 commissions, ASC 350 capitalized software, and ASC 718 equity).
- Leadership & Mentorship: Demonstrated experience mentoring or managing accounting staff, and serving as a final reviewer of technical accounting positions before they reach auditors or executive leadership.
- The “Builder” Mindset: Proven track record of building and scaling technical accounting frameworks, setting up new policies, and independently navigating complex transactions in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment.
- Problem Solver: Exceptional analytical rigor and sound independent judgment in evaluating non-routine business scenarios, contract reviews, and operational improvements, with the confidence to make and defend a final call.
- Tech Savvy: A drive to leverage modern financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Carta, Tableau) and AI-driven tools to automate reporting workflows and provide real-time business visibility.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to confidently present complex accounting positions to executive leadership, auditors, the audit committee, and investors.
Preferred Skills:
- Accounting Advisory Background: 4+ years in Big 4 or top-tier public accounting, ideally within Accounting Advisory Services (AAS, CMAAS, or FAAS).
- SaaS & AdTech Industry Experience: Direct accounting experience within high-growth SaaS, AdTech, or media measurement companies, with familiarity around recurring revenue models and digital tech operations.
- Modern Financial Tech Stack: Hands-on experience with NetSuite, Carta, Workiva, etc,
- Strategic Transaction & Investor Reporting Exposure: Direct ownership of M&A accounting, debt/equity financing events, public-readiness initiatives, or drafting board/investor presentation materials.
- People Management Experience: Prior experience directly managing or formally mentoring accounting staff or Managers.
