Position Overview

The NA Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for leading fleet operations and driver management across the United States for Hunter Douglas Outdoor. Reporting to the Outdoor Head of Logistics, this role ensures safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective fleet performance while maintaining adherence to FMCSA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements. The position serves as the primary owner for driver oversight, fleet compliance, preventive maintenance, registrations, fleet systems, reporting, and continuous improvement across the North America fleet operation.

What you'll do

Driver and Fleet Operations

  • Provide direct supervision and day-to-day leadership for company drivers, including scheduling, workload coordination, performance management, coaching, training, and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Monitor driver performance, compliance, conduct, and Hours of Service (HOS) requirements to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Establish consistent operating expectations for drivers and fleet-related activities across applicable U.S. locations.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure fleet operations comply with FMCSA, DOT, and applicable federal, state, and local transportation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate driver qualification files, compliance records, inspection documentation, and other required fleet compliance materials.
  • Oversee ELD compliance, HOS administration, drug and alcohol program requirements, medical certifications, and related regulatory processes.
  • Lead or support regulatory audits, corrective action plans, and ongoing practices designed to maintain strong CSA performance.

Fleet Maintenance and Asset Management

  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs, required inspections, repairs, and fleet readiness activities to maximize uptime and minimize operating disruption.
  • Manage maintenance vendors, repair authorization processes, maintenance cost tracking, and vendor performance expectations.
  • Track fleet utilization, asset lifecycle, vehicle condition, replacement needs, and related fleet records.

Registrations, Licensing, and Permits

  • Manage vehicle registrations, permits, licensing, renewals, and associated documentation to ensure uninterrupted legal operation.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and audit-ready vehicle documentation across the fleet.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Lead fleet safety initiatives, driver safety communications, incident response, accident investigation support, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Monitor safety trends, compliance indicators, and operating risks; recommend and implement improvements to reduce preventable incidents and exposure.

Operational Efficiency and Cost Control

  • Analyze fleet performance, fuel usage, maintenance costs, utilization, downtime, and other operating metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving, productivity, and process improvement initiatives while maintaining safety, service, and compliance standards.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting related to fleet operations.

Systems, Reporting, and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Administer and optimize fleet systems, telematics platforms, ELD tools, reporting dashboards, and related operational data sources.
  • Partner with HR, Safety, Finance, Operations, Logistics, and site leadership to align fleet activity with business needs.
  • Prepare regular reporting, insights, and recommendations for leadership regarding compliance, cost, safety, driver performance, and fleet health.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises company drivers and is responsible for performance management, training coordination, scheduling oversight, corrective action support, and compliance expectations related to the driver workforce.

Who you are

  • Demonstrated experience managing fleet operations, transportation compliance, logistics operations, or a closely related function.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and FMCSA requirements, including driver qualification files, Hours of Service, ELD requirements, vehicle inspections, and related compliance records.
  • Experience supervising drivers, managing vendor relationships, monitoring fleet performance, and supporting safety programs.
  • Ability to analyze fleet cost, maintenance, utilization, safety, and compliance data and translate findings into practical actions.
  • Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with telematics, ELD, fleet management, fuel management, maintenance tracking, or dashboard reporting systems.
  • Experience supporting multi-location or regional fleet operations.
  • Experience participating in DOT/FMCSA audits or compliance reviews.
