Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, Canada and in partnership with a broader North America Sustainability team, the Sustainability Manager will lead data-driven food and packaging waste reduction and lean production initiatives throughout the Canadian operation.
You will actively identify new opportunities and drive projects for more sustainable solutions across our product offering, including kit and case modifications, changes to ingredient packaging, logistics optimizations, and auditing and reducing waste within our production facilities.
The successful candidate will be accountable for our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting pillar for Canada. This involves the collection of inputs from across the business that contribute to the Annual Non-Financial Report for the HelloFresh Group.
You will ensure compliance with the external reporting requirements and prepare company processes and capabilities to meet the needs of the upcoming CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive of the European Union applicable as of 2024) reporting regulation, and other emerging reporting requirements.
Lettuce share what this role will be responsible for
• Own and manage projects for Sustainability across HelloFresh brands and operations in Canada: HelloFresh, Chefs Plate, and Factor.
• Increase customer trust in our food and packaging and reduce the friction of the conscientious consumer in selecting our products.
• Maintain and share reporting on Sustainability practices for our Canadian business.
• Establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the strategy.
• Align with Global and North American teams on existing responsible sourcing targets and initiatives; facilitate development and roll out of high-impact initiatives in the Canadian market.
• Identify areas for packaging reduction and recyclability in support of reducing EPR costs.
• Stay abreast of existing and pending regulation and climate goals (at the federal, provincial and municipal level); ensure our compliance in both reporting and adherence to guidelines.
• Help us build and drive forward and contribute to our Product roadmap.
• Champion the Canadian team’s understanding and enthusiasm for Sustainability; ensure adherence to best practices and knowledge sharing.
• Support growth, development, and internal alignment as a member of the Canadian Product Leadership Team.
• All other duties, as assigned.
Sound a-peeling? Here's what we're looking for
• Degree in business, engineering, supply chain management, or a sustainability-related field.
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience (consulting, sustainability, operations) with roles driving sustainability-related projects and/or waste management and auditing preferred.
• Exposure to large operations, including distribution centers.
• Proficiency in computer applications / software (Google Sheets, Excel) complemented with exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments, while being able to prioritize, achieve objectives, and meet deadlines.
• An ownership mindset and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail and process orientation.
• Proven team player, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in delivering or supporting sustainability programs at a national level would be considered an asset.
• Relevant Professional Certification in sustainability would be considered an asset.
