Role Summary:
Filevine is developing new AI-powered tools for the legal industry. As part of this effort, we need people with real legal research training to review and validate data that our machine learning systems extract from published legal materials.
This role is ideal for law students who enjoy close reading of judicial opinions and legal analysis, and who are curious about how AI is being applied to legal practice.
Compensation Information: $20.00/hr
Work Location Expectation:This position is based out of our San Francisco, Chicago, Salt Lake City or New York offices. Candidates residing in or near these metro areas are expected to work on a hybrid (2-3 days in-office/week) or fully onsite basis.

- Role Details Position: Part-Time Legal Research Intern
- Location: Nationwide, current student at any accredited law school in the US, open to in-office or remote flexibility
- Hours: 10–20 hours per week (flexible around class schedules)
- Eligibility: 2L and 3L students
- Read and analyze published judicial opinions across state and federal jurisdictions.
- Review outputs generated by AI systems and verify their accuracy against the source legal materials.
- Apply your legal research training to identify errors, ambiguities, or edge cases in automated outputs.
- Collaborate with legal researchers and ML engineers to improve data quality over time.
- Currently enrolled as a 2L or 3L at an accredited Law School.
- Completion of at least the 1L curriculum, including legal research and writing.
- Enjoy reading and analyzing judicial opinions, statutes, and other legal authorities.
- Strong attention to detail and familiarity with legal writing. Interest in legal technology or AI.
- Gain hands-on experience working at the intersection of AI and law (which, in our view, is a meaningful differentiator in a changing legal market!)
- Apply your legal training to real-world problems that will shape how attorneys work with technology.
- Work alongside experienced legal researchers and ML engineers on a cross-functional, international team.
