fal is the generative media ecosystem powering the next generation of AI products. We build the infrastructure, tools, and model access that teams need to move from idea to production, and do it at scale without compromise. For developers and enterprises, fal is the foundation that makes generative media not just possible, but practical: a unified platform where high-performance inference, orchestration, and observability come together to unlock new categories of AI-native products.

As generative media reshapes industries across a market projected to grow by hundreds of billions over the next decade, fal is becoming the ecosystem that ambitious teams build on.

About the role:

As we move from rented capacity to owning our physical infrastructure, we're hiring a Data Center Operations Manager to build the function from zero.

This is a builder role. You'll own white space fit-out and commissioning of new clusters we are bringing up. You'll also stand up the smart hands and break-fix functions: hiring, playbooks, the operating model.

You're a fit if you've:

  • Deployed >10MW of data center capacity
  • Owned architecture and design for interconnected supercomputing / HPC clusters
  • Got the negotiation skills of a Turkish bazaar carpet seller
  • Can build the org that speedruns us to a gigawatt

Who you are

  • Type A. Operations background. Thrive in chaos. Nothing slips on your watch
  • Comfortable with ambitious deadlines and the discomfort that comes with them
  • You know every relevant OEM and colo provider
  • You know where the market is at any given moment: who has capacity, who's overbooked, who's about to slip, what power is going for in every region that matters

Responsibilities

  • Design, fit-out, and commission white space across owned and colo sites: PDUs, CDUs, busway, in-row cooling, high-density power.
  • Build the smart hands and break-fix teams.
  • Run a multi-site portfolio across stages: build, commission, ramp, live
  • Hold vendors and integrators to schedule and spec: Supermicro, NVIDIA, cooling vendors, cable plant subs, the GC
  • Own the technical calls on white space: rack layout, cooling topology, cable plant, power redundancy, serviceability
  • Partner with network eng on InfiniBand/Interconnects
  • Establish standards that scale, so site #10 doesn't need you on every commissioning call
