About the role
We are looking for a Legal Adviser or Junior Legal Adviser to join our Competition & Regulation practice. This is a unique opportunity to support one of our firm’s key practice areas in a hands-on role that combines deep legal content with a strong commercial focus. Our team consists of around 30 lawyers of 20 different nationalities, creating a truly international and diverse environment, and is based in Amsterdam and Brussels. Our firm has also invested heavily in developing and testing AI tools, giving you the opportunity to work with some of the most advanced AI tools in the legal field.
As a Legal Adviser or Junior Legal Adviser, you will work on all aspects of competition law (antitrust and merger control), as well as closely related areas, including the Digital Markets Act (DMA), the Foreign Subsidies Regulation (FSR), foreign direct investment (FDI) screening and competition law-related litigation. Together with the Senior Legal Adviser in our team, you will develop and share know-how with colleagues in the team and across the firm. Legal advisers also play a key role in the business development of our practice.
What will you do?
- contributing to business development, including drafting client alerts and supporting pitches and client events
- maintaining a database of merger control rules in multiple jurisdictions, drafting memoranda, developing templates and helping to prepare client presentations
- organising the weekly team lunch and ad-hoc trainings
- keeping up to date with rapid developments in competition law worldwide
- using AI and legal technology tools to improve the way we work
You will work closely with the Senior Legal Adviser in our team and with other legal advisers in our broader Legal Operations department. This department is responsible for optimising legal service delivery to our clients. Within this set-up, legal advisers regularly share best practices and learn from each other.
Who are you?
You:
- are passionate about all aspects of competition law and related areas
- have a master’s degree in competition or EU law
- have 2-5 years relevant work experience
- have strong writing skills and an excellent command of English; a working knowledge of Dutch is not required but is considered an asset
- are comfortable using PowerPoint, Excel and other IT and AI tools
- are well organised, hands-on, and results-driven
- are innovative, proactive, and committed
- have strong communication skills and are a team player who can connect with people at all levels across the firm
