US Market Access Expertise
- Serve as a trusted subject matter expert on US market access, coding, coverage, reimbursement, and policy issues affecting pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, health plans, providers, and other healthcare stakeholders.
- Monitor and analyze evolving federal and state policies, reimbursement dynamics, and market developments, translating complex changes into actionable implications, risk mitigation, and strategic recommendations for clients.
- Build upon existing knowledge and continue to develop expertise across key US market access areas, including but not limited to: payer coverage and channel dynamics; health policy and regulatory analysis; coding, coverage, reimbursement, pricing, and contracting strategy; early asset and pipeline strategy; evidence generation and value communication; launch planning and commercialization; patient support and affordability; market analytics and scenario planning; and site-of-care economics.
Strategic Problem Solving & Client Advisory
- Lead qualitative and quantitative research to answer client business questions, identify market opportunities and risks, and deliver actionable insights.
- Translate complex market access and business challenges into evidence-based recommendations that inform client strategy and decisions.
- Synthesize large amounts of information, including comprehensive literature reviews, systematic data extraction, and analysis, into actionable strategic insights and recommendations, including
- Apply structured problem-solving to ambiguous questions: define key business issues, generate hypotheses, and develop applicable and strategic solutions.
- Communicate findings and recommendations through presentations, written deliverables, and daily client interactions for cross-functional and executive audiences.
Client Management
- Manage day-to-day client relationships across multiple engagements, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for designated workstreams.
- Build long-term client relationships by delivering exceptional service, managing expectations, and identifying opportunities to expand client engagements.
Project Management & Delivery
- Manage project workstreams and teams to successfully deliver high-quality work products on time and within budget, while balancing competing priorities across multiple engagements.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively with subject matter experts across Avalere Health.
- Review and guide the work of project team members by providing initial guidance on project tasks and feedback on draft materials and integrating SME and project leads' input into final deliverables.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Mentor, coach, and provide ongoing feedback to junior team members.
- Review work products to ensure analytical rigor and high-quality client deliverables.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment and contribute to the continued growth of the US Market Access practice.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Health, Business Administration, Health Economics, Health Policy, Public Policy, Healthcare Management, Public Administration, etc.)
- 4+ years of relevant experience in healthcare consulting, pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies, health plans, advocacy organizations, government agencies, think tanks, or similar organizations with a focus on healthcare.
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. market access and reimbursement landscape, including payer coverage and utilization management, pricing and contracting strategy, and evidence/value requirements, along with working knowledge of the policy dynamics shaping access, such as Medicare Part B and Part D, Medicare Drug Price Negotiation under the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex policy analysis, research findings, and data into actionable business recommendations.
- Demonstrated proficiency in conducting comprehensive literature reviews, including systematic data extraction, analysis, and synthesis of findings into actionable strategic insights and recommendations.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, timelines, scope, and client expectations.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and executive audiences.
- Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with limited oversight.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare consulting, management consulting, strategy & operations, or a market access-related field.
- Experience with direct people management and/or mentoring and coaching junior team members.
- Experience developing client proposals, statements of work, or supporting business development activities.
- Experience leading client-facing presentations and executive discussions.
- Experience and in-depth knowledge of the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program implemented as part of the Inflation Reduction Act
- Experience leveraging advanced Excel, visualization tools, AI-enabled workflows, or other analytical technologies to improve project outcomes
