The Portfolio Lead is the senior executive accountable for the overall success, growth, profitability, and delivery excellence of a portfolio of strategic accounts within a business vertical (approximately $40–50M in annual revenue). The role owns the portfolio as a business, balancing commercial performance, client success, AI-enabled transformation, operational excellence, and talent development.

Leading a team of Product Delivery Directors (PDDs) and Product Delivery Managers (PDMs), the Portfolio Lead partners closely with Client Partners, Practice Leaders, Architects, and Executive Leadership to drive profitable growth, strengthen executive client relationships, and establish 3Pillar as the trusted partner for AI-native product engineering.
Portfolio & P&L Leadership

Own the overall financial performance of a $40–50M portfolio , including revenue growth, contribution margin, utilization, billability, and profitability.

Drive portfolio forecasting, resource planning, and financial governance to maximize business performance.

Proactively identify and mitigate commercial, delivery, and renewal risks.

Optimize portfolio economics through operational efficiency, resource allocation, and delivery excellence.

Lead portfolio business reviews and establish governance that drives accountability and predictable outcomes.

Strategic Client Partnership & Commercial Growth

Serve as the executive delivery sponsor for strategic client relationships.

Act as the primary escalation point for executive client stakeholders.

Partner with Client Partners to develop account growth strategies, expansion plans, executive engagement plans, and renewal strategies.

Participate in executive client meetings, solutioning workshops, and strategic business reviews.

Contribute to large pursuits, proposals, and commercial negotiations by bringing delivery, technology, and AI expertise.

Position 3Pillar as a strategic product and AI transformation partner rather than a traditional services provider.

Delivery Excellence

Own successful execution across both Fixed Price and Time & Materials engagements.

Ensure projects are delivered with excellence across quality, scope, schedule, predictability, and financial performance.

Drive consistent delivery governance, risk management, staffing, and operational discipline across all accounts.

Monitor portfolio delivery KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Resolve complex delivery challenges while maintaining client confidence and business objectives.

Agentic Workflow & AI Transformation Leadership

Champion the adoption of the Agentic SDLC across the portfolio.

Embed AI agents throughout the Software Development Lifecycle to improve engineering productivity, quality, and delivery velocity.

Drive portfolio-wide adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices and intelligent automation.

Establish KPIs that measure AI adoption, productivity improvements, delivery predictability, and client outcomes.

Share AI best practices across accounts and continuously identify opportunities to accelerate delivery through automation.

Technical Leadership &

Act as a trusted advisor to client CTOs and technology executives.

Bridge business strategy, client expectations, and engineering execution.

Talent Leadership & Practice Growth

Lead, coach, and develop Product Delivery Directors and Product Delivery Managers.

Build high-performing organizations focused on accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Drive AI capability development and upskilling across the portfolio to prepare teams for AI-native software engineering.

Lead succession planning, talent reviews, promotions, and leadership development.

Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, experimentation, and continuous learning.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Partner with Sales, Client Partners, Practices, Architecture, Talent, Finance, and Operations to ensure successful execution of portfolio priorities.

Eliminate organizational barriers and improve collaboration across commercial and delivery organizations.

Drive consistency in governance, reporting, staffing, and operational processes across the portfolio.

Promote shared accountability and enterprise thinking across all functions.

15+ years of progressive leadership experience in software engineering, product delivery, or technology consulting, with experience leading large-scale delivery organizations.

Proven P&L ownership within a professional services or digital engineering organization, managing portfolios of $40M+ in annual revenue.

Strong background in professional services, with experience leading client-facing delivery teams across fixed-price and time & materials engagements.

Demonstrated success in executive client relationship management, commercial growth, account expansion, and strategic business development.

Deep understanding of modern software engineering, cloud technologies, Agile delivery, and enterprise architecture, with the ability to guide complex technical decisions.

Experience leading AI-enabled delivery transformation, automation initiatives, or digital transformation programs, with a focus on improving engineering productivity and client outcomes.

Strong commercial and financial acumen, including forecasting, contribution margin management, resource planning, and operational governance.

Proven ability to build, coach, and develop high-performing leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous learning.

Exceptional executive communication, influencing, and cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to align Sales, Delivery, Technology, and Operations around shared business outcomes.

Ability to work with globally distributed teams
