As a Special Education Floating Paraprofessional at New Story Schools In-District Services (IDS), you will work alongside teachers and school teams to support students' academic, behavioral, and daily living goals across multiple school districts. In this flexible, high-impact role, you will provide coverage and direct student support where needed, helping ensure continuity of services and a positive learning experience for students. You'll play a vital role in helping each student succeed through patience, consistency, and encouragement.
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least three months of experience supporting individuals with learning or behavioral disabilities
- Knowledge of behavior management and classroom support strategies
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to stay calm and consistent during challenging situations
- Ability and willingness to travel between assigned school districts and school locations as needed
- Flexibility to adapt to different classroom environments, student needs, and educational teams
What You'll Do
- Provide paraprofessional support across multiple school districts and classroom settings based on staffing and student needs
- Support students with academic, behavioral, and self-care goals
- Implement IEPs and Positive Behavior Support Plans under teacher guidance
- Assist students with transitions, classroom activities, and personal care as needed
- Collect and record behavioral and progress data
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school staff to ensure consistent student support
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Serve as a reliable resource for schools requiring temporary or supplemental student support
