Moonlake is building the next generation of AI infrastructure for interactive digital worlds. Our mission is to enable anyone to create, simulate, and interact with rich environments using natural language and multimodal inputs, turning simple ideas into worlds with structure, logic, and agents that can perceive and act.

Our team has raised $28M in seed funding from NVIDIA Ventures, Threshold Ventures, AIX ventures and notable angels including Naval Ravikant and Jeff Dean to build the foundational layer for the future of AI - powering everything from creative tools and games to robotics training, simulations, and digital twins. Our goal is to make building and experimenting with these environments as accessible and scalable as publishing video on the internet.

We are looking for exceptional research engineers and applied researchers to help push the frontier of interactive AI.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Product Design Engineer who combines strong engineering ability with exceptional product and design intuition.

This is not a traditional product designer role focused purely on Figma or static prototypes. We want someone who can:

- Design elegant user experiences

- Build them directly in code

- Prototype quickly

- Think deeply about interaction design

- Ship performant interfaces for highly technical systems

The ideal candidate is a hybrid between:

- Product engineer

- Frontend engineer

- Interaction designer

- Creative technologist

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Design and build interactive product experiences end-to-end

- Own both frontend UX and supporting backend infrastructure where needed

- Create intuitive interfaces for highly technical AI and 3D workflows

- Build real-time tools for world creation, simulation, and interaction

- Collaborate closely with research and engineering teams working on world models and embodied AI systems

- Prototype rapidly using modern AI-assisted coding workflows

- Improve performance, responsiveness, and usability across complex interfaces

- Help define the visual and interaction quality bar for Moonlake products

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- Strong engineering skills (Next.js/React, Tailwind/shadcn, edge/serverless (Vercel/Cloudflare), tRPC/GraphQL, file & data sync, and authentication)

- Strong product taste; rapid prototyping; zero-to-one ownership.

- Ability to move fluidly between UX thinking and systems engineering

- Experience building polished, production-grade interfaces

- Strong understanding of responsive, real-time web applications

- Ability to prototype quickly and iterate independently

- Comfort owning products from concept through implementation

- Strong visual taste and attention to detail

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE WE VALUE

- React / Next.js / TypeScript

- Real-time rendering and interactive UI systems

- WebGL, Three.js, or similar 3D web frameworks

- Performance optimization for complex interfaces

- Backend infrastructure for collaborative or real-time systems

- AI-native product workflows

- Systems architecture for interactive tools

BONUS POINTS

- Experience with game engines, 3D tools, or creative software

- Familiarity with Blender, world-building tools, or simulation systems

- Experience designing interfaces for AI products or developer tools

- Background in graphics, creative coding, or interactive media

- Experience with collaborative editing systems or multiplayer architectures

- Interest in embodied AI, world models, robotics, or simulation
