In this role, you will lead a team of senior engineers responsible for user account management, teams, organizations, and the overall customer console experience at DigitalOcean. You will foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement while aligning with our global product and engineering strategy.
What you’ll do


• Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for core Account Management primitives, including Teams, Organizations, Projects, and resource Tags.

• Own the development and delivery of features that enhance the overall customer console experience, such as in-console notifications and advanced reporting dashboards.

• Establish and lead sustaining engineering practices, including prioritizing technical debt reduction, resolving aging tickets, and ensuring comprehensive security rule and feature coverage.

• Collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and other cross-functional teams to align the Accounts roadmap with DigitalOcean’s strategic goals.

• Ensure operational excellence, system stability, and performance for all user account-managing systems.

• Manage recruitment, performance reviews, and career development for the engineering team in India.

What You’ll Add to DigitalOcean


• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4+ years in a senior leadership or management role.

• Proven track record of delivering complex cloud-scale distributed systems, particularly in the domain of user account management or customer experience.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills within a global organizational structure.

• Expert-level Go and strong JavaScript/Node.js skills

• Proven track record of designing and implementing high-throughput, scalable systems with large data requirements

• Cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, Azure) with understanding of cloud security models, infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform, Helm, Chef)

• Experience building systems handling millions of events per second

• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and rapidly evolving environment.

Nice to Have


• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architectures.

• Knowledge of cryptography and secure communication protocols.

• Contributions to open-source security projects.
